2018 Nollywood comedy-drama Chief Daddy is set to have a sequel. Founder of EbonyLife TV, the production company, Mo Abudu announced plans to release a sequel in partnership with Netflix.
Mo Abudu made the announcement via Instagram on Thursday, July 30. She wrote: “Good morning beautiful people ❤️❤️❤️. I did promise you loads of exciting announcements in July, and in keeping with that promise, I have one more announcement to make before we end July…I am pleased to announce that EBONYLIFE FILMS, the Creators and Producers of Chief Daddy in Partnership with NETFLIX will be bringing you CHIEF DADDY 2 !!!“
The post also reveals the sequel will be released exclusively to Netflix and scheduled for a December 2021 release date. Celebrated producer Niyi Akinmolayan is set to continue as director of the Chief Daddy franchise.
Chief Daddy follows the story of Chief Beecroft who dies early in the film and an assortment of characters descend on his mansion. His surviving wife (Joke Silva) had only her rapper son (played by Falz), and his two older half-sisters from a dead wife, to contend with. Now, there is a mistress, a love child, another mistress, and a set of twins. The star-studded cast includes Nkem Owoh, Patience Ozokwo, Joke Silva, Kate Henshaw, Funke Akindele, Dakore Akande, Richard Mofe-Damijo.
